Nebbiolo 2021
Nebbiolo 2021
This vintage of our Nebbiolo - of which we only have 92 vines - was only 88 cases to start. As it was aged in mostly neutral American Appalachian oak barrels, it is a lighter style of Nebbiolo. If you have visited Northern Piedmont in Italy, you will find Nebbiolo with a wide range of styles - from sparkling to deep, opaque reds like those common further south in Barolo. This wine is very similar to a ligther-colored Nebbiolo from Northern Piedmont, yet it retains both a tart acidity and some structured tannins. Aging may darken this wine, and mellow it somewhat, but it is currently a refreshingly acidic and tart red - cranberry and cherry flavors - tasty at room temperature or with a slight chill, and easily paired with many types of food.
Tasting Notes
This is a lighter-colored - pale ruby - Nebbiolo, similar in style to those Nebbiolo found in Northern Piedmont (Ghemme, Gattinara, Langhe, etc.). Still rich in fruit and tannins, this is a fresh expression of the Nebbiolo grape.Pairings
Hearty enough to stand up to charcuterie platters, salads, chicken, pork, or other white meat dishes. Excellent pairing for Thanksgiving or with turkey, as it contains notes of cranberry.Awards
