Shadow Mountain Vineyards is nestled in the mountains Northeast of San Diego, at approximately 3,300 feet above sea level, in the North Mountain Subregion of San Diego County, in a place called Sunshine Summit. The vineyard experiences warm days, cool nights, and Pacific Ocean breezes that funnel down through the valleys.

And it's against this backdrop that some of the best wine in Southern California is made.

Our winery sits at approximately 3,300 feet above sea level, is surrounded by mountains, and backs up against the Cleveland National Forest. The drive to get here - only 30 miles south of Temecula Valley Wine Country - is breathtaking.

We share the same night sky with Palomar Observatory. Our vineyards are beautiful, our wine exquisite, but nothing compares to nighttime at Shadow Mountain Vineyards. Join us for a stay in our bungalows (subject to availability), or one of our evening events.

Award wining flavor from masterfully made wine

We've gone up against some of the best wines in the state, and we've won. We've entered our wines in competitions from San Fransisco, to Sonoma, to Temecula, and have won medals every time.

Stewart and Julie Davis, Your Hosts

Stewart and Julie started visiting Shadow Mountain Vineyards as customers in the late 1990's, only a few years after the prior owners (Alex and Pamela McGeary) converted the two-generation Mase family vineyard into a commercially-licensed facility growing fantastic grapes and making award-winning wines.

As the love of Shadow Mountain wines grew in Stewart and Julie, they wanted to learn more and to help this beautiful place grow and thrive, and started taking on "unpaid intern" jobs - helping harvest grapes like a lot of friends of the winery, crushing, pruning, planting (even planting for a neighboring vineyard!), and generally trying to be helpful.

Stewart and Julie decided they wanted to plant their own vineyard and purchased a piece of land nearby - intending to plant it to grapevines with Alex's help. Luckily, Alex and Pam decided in 2019 that they were preparing for retirement, and asked Stewart and Julie to purchase the vineyard and winery.

The rest is history...and the future looks like it has more amazing wine in it...as well as a beautiful place for friends old and new to meet and enjoy the gorgeous scenery and great wine and friendship!
