Sangiovese 2019
Sangiovese 2019
The Sangiovese grape is one of the most popular grape varietals in Italy, and is enjoying the climate in San Diego County. This is a lighter-bodied red wine, with bright red fruits typical of the vineyard's terroir. Acid is present, but is in balance with the flavors of the wine, making this a different style than you would typically find in the Dhianti Region of Italy. The Sangiovese is grown above 3,300 feet in elevation, in the Buena Vista Vineyard bordering Shadow Mountain's western edge. The vines are managed by Shadow Mountain, and are harvested, fermented, aged, and bottled at Shadow Mountain, making this another Estate wine.
